Our Story

Grown for this soil.
Built to last.

Hidden River Prairie Nursery sits on the edge of the Flint Hills, where the tallgrass prairie still defines the horizon. We grow plants the way this region intended — species that belong here, suited to our climate, our soils, and our seasons.

Whether you're restoring a native garden, designing a water-wise landscape, or simply looking for something that survives a Kansas summer without constant attention, we have the stock and the knowledge to help.

Every plant in our nursery is hardy-rooted and acclimated to the local growing zone. We don't ship in specimens from three time zones away — we propagate, grow, and sell what thrives right here.

What We Do

Beyond the
plant sale

We don't just sell plants — we help you design landscapes that work with the land, not against it. Whether you're a homeowner, a contractor, or a land manager, we offer guidance and labor to bring your vision to life.

Landscape Design

Custom native plant palettes and layout plans for residential yards, commercial properties, and public spaces — drawn to your site's sun, soil, and slope.

Installation & Planting

Full-service planting from a single garden bed to multi-acre prairie restoration. We handle soil prep, staking, mulching, and the first season of care.

Consultation & Soil Guidance

Not sure what will work where? We assess your site conditions and recommend species that match your goals — whether that's low maintenance, wildlife habitat, or erosion control.

Wholesale & Project Supply

Volume pricing for landscape contractors, municipal projects, and land trusts. We can source and deliver specialized native stock for projects of any scale.
